425 HP Lt4 Caprice 9c1 for $6,500.
I’d say NP, since like I mean. That thing is awesome.

NP I'd say. Really digging those wheels.

Same, those fat tires look amazing.

The whole thing is amazing. But yeah, those wheels and tires. Somebody built this to have fun.

Yup, somebody obviously really loved that thing. It looks so unassuming and civilian from the outside and so amazing under the hood.

No dyno sheet
I’d also need to see some receipts. Everything but the cop package makes a Grand Marquis look firm.
After our garbage Roadmaster, I’d be hard pressed to spend 6.5k on a B-Body of that vintage.

I’m with everyone else, NP - super sleeper hoonable

Did your Roadmaster have the Lt1 engine?

Yep.

What was wrong with it?

Everything. My dad bought it with 400 miles on the odo in 93.
Stupid optispark was a pain in the ass. Wore out shocks by 20k miles. Stranded him twice in the first year of ownership - bad radiator on both occasions. Heater core also ate it along with the washer pump and blower motor.
Sold it back to the dealer the next year with 32k on the odo.
The last B-Bodies worth owning were made before 77

That’s strange, Police departments seemed to like their B-Bodies to the point of refurbishing them rather than buying new cars.

Pretty sure it was a lemon, but it was damn worst car we’ve ever owned and my dad is a huge GM nut.

I learnt to drive on a ‘77 Caprice. Wimpy 305, undersized transmission, A/C evaporator failed.
Great car. I’d love to have another one.

Too bad Steve Letho couldn’t help, ahaha.

You’d be hard pressed to find one that nice at any price. Nice car.
I bet you could sell that same car in California for $9k easy. Maybe more.

Are you considering buying this? Do you live in NB?

I found the last one out of the LAPD for sale a few weeks ago, sold pretty fast.

Nah, I couldn’t. I don’t like in Nebraska either, I just cruise Craigslist for cool old stuff that I’m into.

That Caprice is something to jump on.

Agreed, it’s a truly awesome car top to bottom.

Love that rubber.

The Crown Vic pales in comparison. Very pale.

Oh yeah, no doubt! The Caprice Lt1 was still faster, basically 20 years earlier.
![]() 05/25/2015 at 21:19 |

Faster, better braking, better slalom handling, better fuel economy.

It’s too bad they stopped making them. I haven’t seen one on duty in a really long time, probably four years ago in Harrisburg PA was the last time. It was an unmarked ‘92 usually parked in front of a police station. Last time I checked, it’s been replaced by a red ‘98 Crown Vic.
